BEST KEPT SECRET IN THE PUGET SOUND

Brown’s Point and Dash Point are two small communities that complement one another with their relaxed charm.  Along with beautiful sound views and million dollar water front homes, both of these communities also offer affordable housing.  It is the perfect location, 15 minutes to downtown Tacoma, 20 minutes to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and 30-35 minutes to downtown Seattle! I have lived in Seattle and in Tacoma and I would look across the Puget Sound at this sunny point of land with its quaint Lighthouse and finally said I want to live there. Now my Sound views are facing west and we enjoy watching the sailboat regattas during the summer and the ships all year round. Local festivities and history go back 100's of years, giving this community a culture that still exists. Browns Point is hard to beat if you are working in the South King County or North Pierce county areas or commute nationally or internationally. Thus many pilots live in Browns Point which is far enough south not to get the plane noise.

Although they border each other, officially they reside in different counties. Brown’s Point belongs to Pierce County, whereas Dash Point is technically considered to be in King County.  However, they are both amazing communities to live in and offer astonishing views of beautiful Puget Sound within a comfortable community atmosphere.  If you have little ones, not only do the areas offer plenty to do outside close by, but Brown’s Point Elementary is one of Tacoma’s top rated elementary schools. Brown’s Point light house park offers beach access for swimming, boating, fishing and picnic tables. The park also offer free tours through the History Center, Boathouse, original fog bell, and Light Keeper’s Cottage. (http://www.metroparkstacoma.org/browns-point-lighthouse-park/)  You can even make reservations to stay in the Light Keeper’s Cottage. Dash Point State Park is another nearby treat cherished by locals in the warmer months.  With beautiful sandy beaches that stretch over 3,000 feet, Dash Point Park is the perfect get away without the hassle of traveling.  This 398 acre park offers many different activities.  Including swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, camping, basketball, playgrounds, a fishing pier and walking trails waiting to be discovered. The Center at Norpoint is a community staple that has something for everyone, no matter your age.  The facility is home to a swimming pool and fitness center, but offers so much more.  Such as, a variety of teen and youth programs, swim lessons, a climbing wall, drop-in sports and senior programs.(http://www.metroparkstacoma.org/norpoint/)

North Shore Gold Course is close by and has been in Tacoma for 53 years.  This golf course is well kept and also offers private lessons, both a covered and uncovered driving range, a chipping green, and two putting greens.  Winter rates run about $28 for 18 holes during the week and $35 on the weekends. (http://www.northshoregc.net/) There is also Twin LakesGolf and Country Club that has something for everyone in the family.  This beautiful country club has a fitness center, swimming pool, tennis, restaurant, clubhouse, and proshop.  At Twin Lakes Country Club you can enjoy dazzling views of the sound while playing a round of golf or enjoying yourself poolside. If you’re looking to have a nice evening out and don’t want to travel far, the Cliff House restaurant is an excellent option.  This restaurant features classic steak and seafood fare amongst gorgeous views of the sound. Menu items include bacon wrapped filet, prime rib, lobster, crab cakes and so much more! (http://cliffhousetacoma.com/) For something a bit more casual but still frequented by locals, there is Brown’s Point Diner.  Browns Point Diner is also home to the Sand Bar, a favorite place for locals to grab a drink.   Known for having a great Happy Hour, the Sand Bar and Brown’s Point Diner also offer amazing sunset views. Both of these neighborhoods are ideal communities to settle into.  They are both very safe areas to reside.  In fact, Dash Point is considered to be safer than 77% of cities in the United States and has an overall crime rate that is 54% lower than the national average.
